Woolly Thoughts Home
Pattern Order Form

I’ve been looking at the projects in the Woolly Thoughts group for some time and toyed for a long time with the idea before going for it!

When my sister sent me a photo of our parents on their wedding day (Aug 1962) I thought I’d give it a try! Using the (I have to say fantastic!) tutorial on the Illusion knitting web site I downloaded Inkscape and went about “Pixelizing” my photo. This took almost longer than the actual knitting and there were many moments that I thought of giving up! But when I ‘hid’ the photo in the background and looked at the pattern, I was amazed that I could actually recognise them!

The knitting itself was no problem once I’d figured out just how the effect is achieved! It is an amazing feeling when you first look at your picture and realise it just might work! I am so proud of this work!

As others have said before - taking pictures of the finished product is not easy! It is very hard to capture the effect in a still photo! My parents Anniversary is in 2 weeks and we travel home tomorrow. When we’re there I’ll mount the picture onto a frame and will hopefully get a few good pictures of it! (New photos above.)
