CUBES
This cube design may be difficult to see in the photos. As with all illusion knits, it is much clearer in real life, when you can move round the knitting.
To knit this design
Section 1
Using Dark cast on 50 stitches. This counts as the first row of the first ridge.
Ridge 1 -
The chart shows k10, p1, k10, p5, k10, p5, k9
Ridge 2 (Light) : Knit the first row. On the second row knit the coloured stitches and purl the white stitches.
The chart shows p10, k16, p10, k14
Ridge 3 (Dark) : Knit the first row. On the second row knit the coloured stitches and purl the white stitches.
The chart shows k10, p3, k10, p3, k10, p6, k8
Ridge 4 (Light) : Knit the first row. On the second row knit the coloured stitches and purl the white stitches.
The chart shows p10, k16, p10, k6, p8
Continue in this way, changing colour for each ridge.
To neaten the square, and to make it lie flat, ad a garter stitch border all round.
