ILLUSTRIATION SHAWL

What you see depends on the angle of your view.

Looking straight at the shawl from a distance you will see broad stripes of colour in various shades of grey. When you look closely you will see narrow stripes of alternating colours. As you move around the shawl a checkerboard pattern comes in and out of view.

There are only four colours - black and three shades of grey. The rest are an optical illusion.

This is a very easy shawl to knit. The pattern includes suggestions for changing the size and instructions for converting to an afghan.

The name comes from Illusions + Striation.
