AN ORCHID

This illusion is based on a work by Russian artist Lodygin Sergey Pavlovich, (1893 - 1961). There is very little information about him. In his early years he drew for magazines and advertisements and seems to have been involved in political drawings at the time of the Russian Revolution. Later he had his own graphic studio and was also a theatre designer. (His name appears in various different forms)

The image is a very complex drawing of a surreal head and flower. The complexity of the image doesn’t make it any more difficult than any other illusion knitting. It is easy to do because you are only using one colour at a time to knit stripes.
